Cork Private Hospital helps to relieve overcrowding crisis

A Private Hospital in Cork has offered to take public patients to help alleviate the current trolley crisis.
Today over 71 people were waiting on makeshift beds in Emergency Departments between Cork University Hospital, the Mercy University Hospital and Bantry General.
The Mater Private have confirmed to RedFM News that they regularly take in patients wherever possible from all three Cork Hospitals, and will continue to do so in an effort to alleviate the current overcrowding crisis.
They work in conjunction with the HSE who assess the patient's needs and if appropriate transfers them to the Mater Private.
This scheme has been in place since November and is also being piloted in Dublin, Kilkenny and Mullingar.
