An elderly woman was killed in the collision between a van and a car which happened just after 11am on the Banteer Road. The woman, who was in her late 70's, was the driver of the car
Her body has been removed to Cork University Hospital where a post mortem examination will take place
The road between Naad and Banteer has been closed as a result to allow for a full examination of the scene and motorists are advised that diversions through Lyre are in operation
This latest fatality brings to 13 the number of people killed on Cork roads so far this year
