Cork Simon Calls For A Change In Legislation As A Permanent Solution To Homeless Crisis

Cork Simon says street protests and the occupation of empty buildings will highlight the homeless crisis, but will do little to solve it.
Calls have been made for a Cork version of the "Home Sweet Home" homeless movement who occupied Apollo House in Dublin last winter.
Three homeless people died last week, including 30 year old Jenny Dennehy who was found dead in a tent in Gillabbey Park in the city.
The Homeless charity says while the "Home Sweet Home" movement put pressure on the Government to acknowledge the homeless crisis, putting people in temporary accommodation will go nowhere near solving the problem.
During the occupation last year, almost 90 homeless people stayed in Apollo house, until the group left the building on January the 12th in compliance with a high court order.
Speaking to RedFM News Cork Simon's Dermot Kavanagh says holding a referendum on a right to housing would do more to solve the crisis:
