Cork Simon Community: Lack Of One-Bedroom Accommodation Contributing To Increase In Individual Cases Of Homelessness

The charity say the provision of rental accommodation including single occupancy units is a measure that would go a long way towards solving the homeless crisis
The government will sign up to a new European initiative to end homelessness by 2030 on Monday...
Housing Minister Darragh O'Brien says his department will do all it can to prevent people becoming homeless and help others to exit homelessness.
Speaking to RedFM News, Paul Sheehan from Cork Simon says the number of families becoming homeless has fallen significantly:
"It's very clear that family homelessness is being addressed in a very real way, and the numbers continue to fall. Our concern is that single homelessness continues to increase. And that's really because there is a severe shortage of one bedroomed accommodation."
