Cork students celebrate Leaving Cert results

The anxious wait is over for almost 6,000 Leaving Cert students across the city and county. They've been collecting their results from their schools, while many more will find out at midday when the results are posted online. One student in the country achieved 9 A1s in Co Wexford - with 160 others getting six or more. There are concerns over the number of students taking science subjects with the failure rate still high in chemistry, physics and biology. The number of candidates sitting the exams fell to its lowest figure in six years but a higher number of students than ever before took Higher Level Maths. However, the new 'Project Maths' syllabus does not appear to have improved results - with the number of Honours grades down by over 10 per cent. These students at Colaiste Choilm in Ballincollig have been speaking to Cork's RedFM about their results: (Click above for audio)
