Cork TD pledges to lobby for funding for new Mallow school after fire

Smoke was seen billowing from the Patrician Academy on Fair Street in Mallow at around 3.20am this morning.
Cork TD Sean Sherlock says he's working to ensure that funding will be made available to build a new school in Mallow following last night's devastating fire that ripped through the school.
The alarm was raised at 3.20am when smoke was seen billowing from the Patrician Academy on Fair Street in Mallow.
Five units of the Cork City and County Fire service responded to the scene and brought the fire under control and stopped it from spreading further - however extensive damage was done to the building, parts of which are completely gutted.
A full forensic investigation will be carried out and anyone with any information is asked to contact Mallow gardaí on 022 21105.
Former student at the school Cork TD Sean Sherlock says planning is essential to make sure students, teachers and parents are accommodated in September:
