Cork TD staging a protest outside the GPO in the city this hour

The protest is to highlight the closure of Montenotte Post Office
The Post Office is due to close on Wednesday after the postmaster announced her retirement.
An Post say they were forced to close the site after they advertised the contract twice and received no expressions of interest.
Customers are being transferred to the St Luke's branch which is around a kilometre away.
Speaking to RedFM News, Sinn Féin TD Thomas Gould says Post Offices must be saved from closure:
"We have seen during the Covid-19 pandemic, how vital post offices work to communities, and especially older people, they need to be modernised and additional services put in place, because we believe the Post Office's are vital service for every community."
