Cork teacher threatens hunger strike over Junior Cycle reform

A Charleville teacher who has threatened to go on hunger strike over part of the proposed reform of the Junior Cert, says she has received huge support. Marian Wallace, who teaches English at St Mary's Secondary School in Charleville, received two standing ovations when she made the claims during a speech at the ASTI conference in Killarney yesterday. She said teachers are at war over proposals which would see them correct their own students work. Speaking on the Neil Prendeville this morning Marian Wallace says English teachers are on the front line over the Junior Cert reform and she outlined why she's uncomfortable about marking her students State Exam papers.
