Cork teen launches Hidden Heroes Awards

19-year-old Joanne O'Riordan from Milstreet launched the awards.

People are being urged to think of the ‘hidden heroes’ in their community that go out of their way to help other people.

North Cork teenager Joanne O’Riordan has launched the nominations for the annual awards that honour people for making a significant contribution to society, and generally being kind to each other.

Previous winners include a pharmacist who saved the life of a customer, and a woman who put her life on hold to look after her husband after he was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer.

Joanne, from Millstreet who was born with total ameila,  says it’s important to celebrate these hidden heroes:
