Cork to be hit by Hurricane Ophelia

A severe weather warning is in place Leeside
Hurricane Ophelia is approaching our shores on Monday bringing severe winds and stormy conditions.
Gusts of wind are expected to reach 130 kilometers per hour and could potentiall cause structural damage and disruption.
Cork City Council's Severe Weather Alert Team met this morning to review operations and are advising citizens to remain vigilant and to keep themselves updated in regard to the evolving weather situation.
Morrisons Irsland and South Terrace are areas of the city most likely to be affected by possible flooding tomorrow afternoon.
Meanwhile the public can be updated via the Cork City Now mobile and email messaging service by signing up at corkcitynow.ie.
Speaking to RedFM News Director of Enviornment for the City Council David Joyce says people need to keep up to date with the warning.
