Cork to US route delay highlighted by Hotel Chains
The Cork/US airlink is back in the news again today after the chief executives of a number of hotel chains wrote to Barack Obama slamming the delay in issuing a permit for the route.
Norwegian Air International has hit a number of stumbling blocks since they first announced their intention to operate routes from Cork to Boston and New York.
Hotel bosses at the Hilton and Marriott have described the delays as "inexcusable" and are urging the US President to ensure "immediate approval" of Norwegian Air's permit application.
The US Department of Transportation said in April that it intended to grant the permit, but since then the process has stalled.
The European Commission has also sought arbitration on the matter.
Speaking to RedFM News Kevin Cullinane from Cork Airport says the airlink is vital for Cork.
