Cork to US route discussed in Brussels
The route has hit a delay in recent weeks.
The current stumbling block for the Cork to Boston route has been raised today at the highest EU-US diplomatic level.
Fears have been expressed that the planned Cork to Boston flights won't be delivered in May as a U.S license has yet to be granted to Norwegian Air International who will be operating the route.
The airline has since moved to reaffirm its commitment to the launch of the first transatlantic flight in Cork and says its position hasn't changed.
Minister of State for European Affairs and Cork TD Dara Murphy met with the US Ambassador to the European Union Anthony Gardner in Brussels this afternoon to discuss the issue.
Speaking after today's meeting, Minister Dara Muprhy told Cork's RedFM that the Ambassador has committed to update him on the issue and he says pressure is mounting for a quick decision.
