Cork Transatlantic flights still a long way off
Cork Airport says there may still be a long journey for Cork transatlantic flights, in the wake of Donald's Trump presidential victory.
It follows comments by Taoiseach Enda Kenny that there is no longer a political block on the Cork/US link as the union of airline pilots has backed down on the condition the pilots who fly the routes are paid at European and US rates.
However the airline planning to operate the route has yet to be given the green by the US Department of Transportation in spit of the EU/US Open Skies agreement.
Speaking to RedFM News Managing Director at Cork Airport Niall McCarthy says he hopes that the Taoiseach will intervene in January so the flights can take off early next year:
