Corkman charged with attempted post office raid

A 30-year old man has been remanded in custody after he was charged in connection with an attempted robbery of a post-office in East Cork over the weekend. Aron Burrows appeared at a special sitting of Cork District Court yesterday evening in connection with the incident at Aghada Post Office early on Saturday morning. He was charged with a single count of possession of a firearm with intent to commit an offence at the Post Office on November 16th. Detective Garda Joseph O'Shaughnessy gave evidence of arrest, charge and caution and told the court that Burrows, made no reply to the charge after it was put to him after caution. Gardai sought a remand in custody and defence solicitor, Emmet Boyle, said that his client was consenting to the remand. Judge Olann Kelleher granted the state application and remanded Burrows of Lahard, Inch, Whitegate in custody to appear in court again on November 21st.
