Corkman honoured for his bravery for saving young girl 55 years ago

Paddy Crowley along with his friend Pat O'Donovan received an award for their bravery in saving a young girl from the Lough which had frozen over in 1961
A Corkman who saved a little girl from drowning in the 60's has been honoured for his bravery.
Paddy Crowley along with his friend Pat O'Donovan rescued the young girl from the Lough, which had frozen over in 1961.
He never knew who she was, and recently appealed to the listeners of the Neil Prendeville show to help him find the identity of the young girl.
Little did he know that the person he saved - Margaret Coffey - was the owner of his favourite bookshop - Uneeda, on Oliver Plunkett Street.
Speaking on the Neil Prendeville show on Cork's RedFM Paddy says it was very emotional to meet after all these years.
