Corkman to go on trial over Passage West murder

A Corkman is due to go on trial today charged with the murder of a mother of three in Passage West last year. The body of the 36-year-old was found following a house fire at her home. Darren Murphy of Dan Desmond Villas, Passage West is charged with the murder of Olivia Dunlea O’Brien on February 17th last year. Her body was discovered at her home in Pembroke Crescent, Passage West following a house fire. Fire fighters spent several hours bringing the blaze under control before discovering her body in an upstairs bedroom of her semi-detached house. Her three children were staying with their father that night. A post mortem confirmed she died a violent death before her house was set alight. The accused is due to go on trial before a jury and Mr Justice Paul Carney at the Central Criminal Court this morning. The trial is expected to last several days.
