Cork's hospitality sector prepares to reopen
Cork's hospitality sector is gearing up for reopening in just over two weeks time.
Hotels, guest houses and B&B's have remained open for essential purposes only and have not been allowed to welcome tourists, conferences or events like Christmas parties since the outbreak of the Pandemic.
With focus turning to the vital summer season, hoteliers in the city say they expect a bookings boost.
Speaking to RedFM News, Ray Kelleher from The Montenotte Hotel says the 'Pure Cork' brand is proving very successful.
"It's a very very strong brand nationally, which is marketed very well, so that really helps.
"I suppose the benefit for people is that if they're coming to the city, within 15 minutes they're in the countryside. And what we have learned most in this period is that people really want to have the countryside close to them.
"That's the benefit of a stay in Cork city - within 15 minutes you're in the countryside."
