Cork's Housing Crisis Continues To Deepen

New figures have revealed a deepening of Cork's housing crisis.
The city council say they cannot meet the demand for social housing as for every house allocated to a family this summer, four new applicants joined the list.
Currently there are 198 social housing units under construction, 258 that have received planning permission and a further 481 that are in the design stages.
The City Council Housing Functional Committee is holding a meeting this evening to discuss the issue.
Speaking to Red FM News Cork Simons Dermot Kavanangh says investment in social housing is crucial in order to prevent the situation worsening ahead of the winter:
