Corks Lord Mayor admits he has not paid water charge as he accepts petition

Anti-water charges campaigners Leeside say the Lord Mayor's acceptance of a petition calling for a boycott of water charges represents a new era.
Over 22,000 people signed the petition which was rejected by former Lord Mayor Cllr Mary Sheilds who said her office could not accept a document that asked people to break the law.
It's hoped the move will ease tensions between City Hall and anti-water charges protesters who in the past year have disrupted council meetings demanding their voices be heard.
Lord Mayor Cllr Chris O'Leary also confirmed to RedFM News that he himself has not paid his Irish Water bills and said that in the current situation he doesn't intend to.
Speaking to RedFM News Diarmaid O'Cadhla of the People's Convention says he believes the accceptance of the petition is a step in the right direction:
