Cork TD: Bessborough plans have upset survivors, relatives and the local community

Donnchadh O'Laoghaire made a submission to the Oral Hearing of the An Bord Pleanála application for the development yesterday.
It follows the report of the Commission of Investigation into Mother and Baby Homes in January which found that 923 infants died at the facility between 1922 and 1998 and it's believed most of the babies are buried in an unmarked grave on the site.
Speaking to RedFM News Deputy O'Laoghaire says the development should not be given the green light and an investigation is needed:
"In my view, the site is completely inappropriate. There are far too many unanswered questions about where the hundreds of children who are unaccounted for, are buried and there is every possibility that they are within the site, and I urge them to reject this, and we need to have an investigation of the site to ensure that we get answers, and then we get truth for the relatives of, of those who lived in beds bruh, and who died in desperate."
