Country On Brink Of General Election
The country is on the brink of a General Election unless the Tanaiste steps aside over her handling of the Maurice McCabe email saga
This morning Fianna Fail tabled a motion of no confidence in the Tanaiste, but the party maintains that an election can still be avoided.
Fianna Fail’s motion will be debated on Tuesday, ahead of a similar motion put down by Sinn Fein.
For its part, Fine Gael is standing behind Frances Fitzgerald and last night the Taoiseach told his TDs and Senators to prepare for an election in mid-January.
One Minister has already suggested that it could take place on January 12th next
Speaking on The Neil Prendeville Show on Cork's RedFM Fianna Fail Cork TD Billy Kelleher says they have an obligation to hold the Government to account on this matter
