Creches across Cork have formed an alliance to highlight a looming childcare crisis

It comes as creches could face closure Leeside due to changes to legislation and lack of funding
Hundreds of children may be left without places at creches across the city from September, due to changes to legislation and funding cuts.
The Cork Early Years Alliance was set up to raise awareness of the issues facing the creches, some of which say they will have no choice but to close.
The community creches say they can no longer have those on CE schemes working for them and must hire qualified staff at a cost of €24,000 per person.
They have lobbied the Minister for Childre Katherine Zappone to double the current Single Affordable Childcare allowance from €4.60 to €9.20 in an effort to keep the creches open.
Speaking to RedFM News Tehmina Kazi from CESCA says the funding available does not match the new legislative requirements.
