CUH experiencing severe overcrowding again today

Cork University Hospital is experiencing severe overcrowding again today.

Figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation show 40 patients are currently receiving treatment on trolleys and chairs in the Emergency Department.

It comes as the Hospital expressed it's regret at the long delays experienced by patients at their ED on Monday night

In a statement issued to RedFM News the hospital says 237 patients presented at the hospital for review and treatment and 70 of these patients required admission.

Hospital Management have requested that, where appropriate, the public contact their GP in the first instance and explore all other options available to them prior to attending the Emergency Department if their needs are not urgent.
