CUH has worst overcrowding in ED department today.

62 people are waiting on admission in Emergency Departments at Cork University Hospital and the Mercy University Hospital today.

The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation have reported that the CUH ED is experiencing the most overcrowding in the country with 45 people currently receiving treatment on trolleys and chairs.

A full capacity protocol was introduced last year by the Government in an effort to tackle overcrowding, by cancelling non urgent procedures in order to concentrate on clearing ED admissions.

Speaking to RedFM News INMO Spokesperson Mary Rose Carroll says this protocol is not being implemented correctly in the CUH:
