CUH to recruit 75 nurses

Cork University Hospital is to recruit up to 75 nurses, however nursing unions claim the hospital is finding it difficult to fill the positions due to the uncertainty over nurses' pay under Croke Park Park 11 The nurses are being taken on in an effort to address issues that led to the cancellation of surgeries at the hospital for a week last month.. 46 medical beds will open at CUH this year due to overwhelming demands caused by the reconfiguration of surgical services with the region However the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation says the hospital is struggling to fill the posts due to the uncertainty surrounding the future of nurses' pay The HSE says pay rates for the jobs depend on experience with new entratts being appointed on the 2011 salary of 27,211 euro, however this would drop by over 5,000 if the Croke park 11 nursing recruitment scheme is imposed Audio: RedFM's Lana O'Connor has the details in the attached audio.
