CUH urged to curtail routine admissions due to nurse shortage

Nurses at Cork University Hospital feel they are being compromised in the workplace due to a shortage of staff.

The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation says some of their members are working in an unsafe care environment in the hospital and they're appealing for urgent action to be taken.
Last week hospital management confirmed that there are 78 vacant nursing posts and despite a recruitment drive they are struggling to fill the positions.
The union says management needs to develop an action plan to resolve the current situation for nurses.
Speaking to RedFM News Mary Rose Carroll of the INMO says management could look at curtailing routine admissions to help alleviate the pressure on nurses:
