Dangers Faced By Paramedics Highlighted After Cork Assault

A female paramedic was attacked in Cork city while attending to a 999 emergency call
The union which represents paramedics say their members never know what they are facing on a call out.
The difficult nature of their work will be highlighted this evening on the TV3 show Paramedics which shows a female paramedic being attacked in Cork city while attending to a 999 emergency call.
Paramedics Denise Forde and Imelda O'Shea are first on the scene to assist a drunken man lying on the road who refuses help and then becomes aggressive.
The Guards are called as the man becomes violent resulting in him being arrested and as this is happening a drunken passer-by begins to physically attack the paramedics.
The incident takes over 90 minutes to resolve.
Michael Dixon of the National Ambulance Service Representative Association told RedFM News that incidents like this are not unusual.
