David Cameron has officially stepped down after visiting Buckingham Palace

 

Theresa May has taken up her position as UK Prime Minister - saying BREXIT negotiations will be a time of great challenge.

This afternoon, David Cameron officially stepped down saying it had been the greatest honour to serve as PM 

Theresa May is only the second woman to take up the office after Margaret Thatcher and as she was appointed she paid tribute to her predecessor and said she had a job of work to do

Before leaving Downing Street David Cameron paid an emotional tribute to his family:
