Decision on Incinerator postponed

Decision on the 160 million euro Ringaskiddy Incinerator has been postponed until October.
The decision deadline was originally set for the 12th of July, but An Bord Pleanala has announced today that this has been extended until the 26th of October.
An oral hearing was held in May and lasted 17 days as opponents to the project voiced their concerns about health and safety, the impact on tourism as well as other issues.
This is the third time waste management company Indaver have put forward a proposal to operate the incinerator - claiming Ireland needs to manage its own waste.
The extension to the deadline has had a mixed reaction, with representatives from the Cork Harbour Area for a Safe Environment expressing surprise at the decision by An Bord Pleanala.
Speaking to RedFM news Spokesperson for CHASE Mary O'Leary says residents in the area are disappointed and unsure of the reason for the extension:
