Decline in young girls getting HPV vaccine

Parents are being urged to consider the facts when deciding on the HPV vaccine.

The HSE and cancer specialists have expressed growing concern at figures showing that young girls getting the HPV vaccine has decreased by over 10% in the past 12 months.

This figure means that there are 5,000 pupils across the country who have not received the vaccine which prevents cervical cancer.

Doctors believe that the decline may be related to concerns about the HPV vaccine safety, which the HSE says have no scientific basis.
