Decrease in property crime in West Cork
Figures suggest burglaries are also down.
There's been a 20% reduction in property crime so far this year in the Cork West Garda division.
Provisional figures for the region also suggest that burglaries are down 50%.
Gardaí say community alert groups and text alerts have played a huge part in these reductions.
Speaking to RedFM News crime prevention officer with the Cork West Garda Division Sgt Ian O'Callaghan says there's also been an increase in calls from members of the public reporting suspicious activity:
