Defence Forces Veterans To Hold A Parade In Cork Over Pay And Conditions In The Navy

The march is being held on Saturday

Recruitment and retention is a key issue for members of the force as figures show that more than 400 soldiers, sailors and members of the air corps have left the Defence Forces in the last four years, before completing their training

The Parade for Respect and Loyalty will take place at 12 noon on Saturday starting at the Grand Parade and follows a series of parades and actions last year by veteran Defence Force members and the Wives and Partners of the Defence Forces.

The Defence Minister says he is waiting until the independent pay commission reports to government before making any recommendations on salaries.

Paul Kehoe says he hopes to have their report shortly.
