Delayed reaction to flood crisis slammed

Flood victims and farmers nationally have expressed their anger at delays.

Delays in constructing a flood defence plan in the city have been slammed by the Construction Industry Federation.
    
Last year Minister of state at the OPW Simon Harris said he hoped that the project for the River Lee scheme would go on public display in mid 2016 followed by construction in 2017.

It comes as flood victims and farmers nationally have expressed their anger after it emerged that government officials responsible for tackling the flood crisis did not meet for up to six years.

Inspectors at the Comptroller and Auditor General’s office found officials responsible for "flood risk and response” did not meet between 2009 and mid 2015.

Speaking to RedFM News Conor O'Connell of the Construction Industry Federation says simply put, the delays in constructing a flood defence plan in the city, are not acceptable:
