Demolition works under way at a North Cork ghost estate

The upcoming demolition of 10 of the houses at Lois Na Greine in Lismire has been welcomed
A ghost estate in North Cork which has been described as one of the worst in the country is finally on course for a re-vamp..
The upcoming demolition of 10 of the houses at the ghost estate in Lois Na Greine in Lismire is a major breakthrough for residents and Cork County Council.
The council has waged a long running campaign to force financial institutions pay out insurance bonds to finish off projects left by bankrupt developers.
The last phase of houses at Lois Na Greine were left unfinished with properties at the back of estate left weather worn, overgrown, manholes open and a clogging sewerage tank
The site has now been made secure and work has commenced on the demolition of 10 houses in the estate
Speaking on the Neil Prendeville Show local resident Sonia Tobin says she understands the area will be converted back to a green field once the demolition works are completed
