Demonstrations get underway Leeside opposed to the OPW's flood relief scheme

Members of the Save Cork City are campaigning today against the OPW's flood relief scheme which they believe will affect the cultural and heritage aspects of the city
A human protest chain has assembled on Sullivan's Quay as demonstraters gather to mount their opposition to the multi-million euro flood relief scheme planned for the city.
The Save Cork City campaign has organised the demonstration to raise awareness of what they claim is a flawed project.
The OPW have issued a statement saying the cultural and heritage aspects of the city have also been taken into account.
Polly Magee from Save Cork City told RedFM News that a symposium will take place in UCC next Wednesday where alternatives to the plan will be discussed.
