Department apologises over social welfare payments error

The Department of Social Protection is apologising after 33,000 social welfare recipients did not receive allowances that were due to be electronically paid into their bank accounts today. The payments affected include illness benefit, family income supplement, one parent family payment, maternity benefit and jobseekers allowance.
