Department Of Environment Launching Crackdown On Illegal Dumping

The Department of the Environment is launching a major crackdown on illegal dumping.
CCTV cameras will be installed in problem areas and drone and satellite imagery will be used to catch offenders.
It will also see the introduction of better enforcement and prosecution methods.
A minimum of €650,000 will be initially allocated to community groups and state agencies who'll work together on the issue - with disadvantaged areas and litter hotspots being given priority.
Environment Minister Denis Naughten says he's confident the new initiative will help deter and catch illegal dumpers.
