Deputy Ó Laoghaire: Many Cork Airport Employees Extremely Worried At Present

The Sinn Féin TD urged the Department of Transport to increase funding to help aviation workers for the duration of the runway works at Cork Airport
Cork South Central TD, Donnchadh Ó Laoghaire, has called on the government to increase funding allocated to the Regional Airports Fund, so that those working in the airport can be kept on the books.
Speaking to RedFM News, Deputy Ó Laoghaire says that it is important that workers get the opportunity to stay on their current pay and terms and conditions:
"There are a lot of employees very worried in Cork airport at the minute; not just in Aer Lingus but in some of the other companies connected to the airport as well. They're worried about their jobs, they're worried about their incomes, during the temporary layoff with the runway closure. So what I'm calling for, and I've written to the Department of Transport Minister Eamon Ryan, asking that a fund be set up through the Regional Airport Fund, administered by Cork Airport and the DAA, to keep these workers on during the closure, during the temporary layoffs, so that they stay on the books, they stay on their terms and conditions, they stay on their current pay."
