Designating Cork University Hospital As A Major Trauma Centre In The South Will Save Lives

That's according to a Trauma Steering Group report published today.

Experts say two new major trauma centres in Cork and Dublin could see patient survival rates jump by up to 30 percent.

Around 16 hundred patients suffer a major trauma each year, which includes a serious injury after a fall or road traffic accident.

Cabinet has today approved a plan which will also see University Hospital Galway considered as a trauma unit.
