Developers move to allay fears over event centre works

The official sod turning happened last February.

Works are set to get underway on the site of the new events centre in the city in the coming weeks. 

Doubt had been cast over the project earlier this year due to the delay in the official sod turning which finally took place at the former Beamish and Crawford site last February. 

Developers BAM have now confirmed that the tendering process is underway for the demolition of the site with works expected to begin in the coming weeks.  

There are a number of stakeholders involved in the 150 million euro project with the completed development expected to hold 6,000 people.
