Disturbances in west Belfast last night after week of peace following death of Britain's Prince Phillip

Loyalist flute bands also staged a series of un-announced parades across north Down to protest customs inspections in the Irish sea.

Unrest in the North ended abruptly following news of the death of Prince Phillip.

But following his funeral on Sunday, loyalist groups circulated plans for a series of protest marches in North Down on social media.

In Bangor, a crowd marched with drums and a banner attacking the Northern Ireland protocol.

While a crowd of hundreds handed in a letter of protest to Newtownards Police Station.

These weren't notified to the Parades Commission, but they did pass off peacefully.

Trouble flared again in west Belfast, though, as loyalist youths faced off with police near the Lanark Way interface gates from the Shankill to Springfield Road area.

Furniture and rubbish was dragged into the street and burned, and a small gang threw missiles at police Land Rovers.
