Doctor slams Arthur's Day event

Doctors have slammed the promotional Arthur's Day event organised by Diageo saying we don't need another excuse to drink. Arthur's Day is taking place this Thursday in cities and towns around the country with acts including The Script and Emile Sandé scheduled to play in secret venues. A public meeting is being held at 6pm this evening at the Royal College of Physicians in Dublin, to discuss the dark side of our relationship with alcohol. Dr Stephen Stewart, Director of the Liver Disease Centre in the Mater Hospital, warns that we're ignoring the dangers of excessive drinking at a serious cost to our health and the exchequer: (Click above for audio)
