"Don't go hungry, we're here to help" - Cork Penny Dinners message

Cork Penny Dinners is expecting to feed more people than ever this Christmas. The charity opens its doors at Little Hanover Street every year to give a festive dinner to those in need. 80 people availed of the service last year but a higher number is expected this year. The organisation has noticed a steady rise in the numbers seeking help and is now feeding up to 1,500 people every week. Speaking to Cork's RedFM spokesperson Catriona Twomey says the winter months put added pressure on families who are struggling to pay for food and heating. Catriona says they're seeing new faces every day and she has this message for those who have fallen on difficult times:
