Dr Ian Paisley has died at the age of 88

The Taoiseach is leading tributes to Dr. Ian Paisley describing him as a 'dominating and towering figure' in Northern and Irish politics for many years. Northern Ireland's former First Minister - who was 88 years of age - had been ill for a long time. His family says there will be a private funeral, before a public memorial service later in the year. Tributes to Ian Paisley have been pouring in from across the political divide. The North's First Minister Peter Robinson says 'Ian was a remarkable man whose long career in public life has left an indelible mark on all who knew him' while, the North's Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness has expressed his deep regret and sadness at his passing.
