Drop In Alcohol Consumption

Irish people are drinking less. Figures published today by the drinks industry suggest alcohol consumption here declined by 12.5% in the five years to 2012. The downward trend began in 2001, and since then, the amount of alochol consumed in this country has fallen almost 20%. According to the industry, the average adult drinks 11.6 litres a year- that's about 25 pints of pure alcohol annually.
