€1.8 million allocated for Helipad at CUH

€1.8 million has been made available for the construction of a Helipad at Cork University Hospital.
The HSE confirmed that a current staff car park on the North Eastern corner of the Hospital campus had been selected as the site for the helipad.
The announcement comes following fresh concerns about the lack of such a facility following an incident in West Cork where three children had to be airlifted to the hospital with severe burns.
Construction is set to begin on the helipad early next year and the HSE expect it to be fully operational by December 2017.
Speaking tor RedFM news Cllr John Buttimer says the new helipad will greatly reduce travel time for patients needing emergency care:
