€10,000 gambled every 60 seconds in Ireland

Concerns are mounting for the number of young people seeking help for gambling addictions. It comes after a recent study highlighted the escalating problem of online gambling and its accesibility to a younger age group via smartphones and tablets. GambleAware now estimates that €10,000 is gambled every minute in Ireland which amounts to over €5 billion each year. Online gambling now accounts for €2 billion of this.
