Economists Say Owners Of Vacant Sites Must Be Taxed "Aggressively" To Reduce Housing Costs

Just ten local councils are ready to charge the vacant sites levy of 3%
In Cork city 98 sites are listed on the derelict sites register and up to July the City Council levied €629,700 worth of fines for these sites of which over €116,000 has been collected by the Council.
The ESRI also says 2,000 fewer homes would be built, and the cost of sites is having an impact as well as Brexit.
