Eight Cork Beaches Awarded The Top Grade In EPA Report

Barley Cove, Fountainstown, Garretstown and Redbarn are among the eight beaches
An EPA report into water quality has awarded eight Cork beaches the top grade of 'excellent'.
In total almost three quarters of bathing waters in the country received the grade in 2017.
Barley Cove, Fountainstown, Garretstown and Redbarn are among the eight beaches in Cork to achieve 'excellent' status
The study deemed the water at Youghal Front Strand Beach 'sufficient' and it will remain on the EPA's 'vulnerable' list due to sewage discharges and river inputs. The other Cork beaches on the vulnerable list are Coolmaine, Warren and Garryvoe.
EPA Senior Scientific Officer Peter Webster says overall, the water quality across the country is excellent
