Elective Surgery Cancelled At A Third Hospital Due To The High Numbers Presenting With Flu Virus

Yesterday elective procedures at Cork Hospitals were cancelled for today and tomorrow
Elective surgery has now been cancelled at a third hospital due to the high numbers presenting with the flu virus.
University Hospital Kerry made the decision as record numbers of people wait on trolleys in emergency departments across the country.
There were not enough beds for 760 people who needed them yesterday.
Yesterday management at Cork hospitals announced the cancellation of elective procedures today and tomorrow, following calls from front line staff and the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation.
The Government plans to open just under 200 beds by the end of January to help alleviate the crisis.
Speaking to RedFM News on his way out of the emergency department at Cork University Hospital this patient says he's furious at how people have been treated on trolleys and it's time the Governments steps in:
